Candle Care & Burning Tips
Trim your wick to 1/4 inch before lighting for the first time. This keeps the candle from smoking too much. Allow the candle to burn until the wax becomes melted and a liquid layer across the top of the candle. Melting to the glass. Usually this takes about an hour for every inch of candle. Example, a Yankee Candle is 4 inches around, this will take minimun of 4 hours of burn time. If you blow out the candle and there is only about a two inch wide pool of liquid wax in your candle this is where the candle will melt to the next time you burn it. This creates the tunneling effect. Please do not attempt to pour off the wax to create a hotter flame. This will not work. IF this happens burn your candle until the wick is gone and place candle in or on a candle warmer to exhaust the remaining scent in this candle.
To clean wax from glass candleholder or votive cups, place cup or candleholder in freezer for about an hour, remove from freezer and wax will pop clean from container.
Always burn your candle on a heat proof surface.
Never leave your candle unattended while burning.
To maximize the burn of your candle use a shade or a topper. These keep your flame centered and allow the proper amount of oxygen to your candle for and even slow burn with maximum scent. As well as adding and attractive accessory to compliment your decor.
